Pearl Carving was delivered at the Fofo'anga Hall with 11 participants. This training started on the 18th and ended today 21st with the participants receiving their certificate of accomplishment. Attending the ceremony was Dr. 'Uhilamoelangi Fasi, Team Leader for Tonga Skills, Ms Francis Howes, the Skills Supply Advisor from Tonga Skills, Mrs. Tu'ifua Takapautolo, the Skills Planning Coordinator for Tonga Skills, TBEC Staff 'Ilaisaane Tupou and TBEC Trainer Mr. Atunaisa Kali. TCCI's CEO Mrs. Dorina Kioa met with members of the Australian Parliamentary Delegation when they visited Tonga this week. The Delegation included Senator the Hon. Ian Macdonald, Senator John Williams and Mr. Steve Georganas MP who were looking at Tonga - Australia collaborative activities in the Government and private sectors including agriculture and export industries.
Mrs. Kioa was very impressed with the interest shown by the Delegation at the presentation by Nishi Industries.
" The Delegation members included members of parliament from Australia's farming community" said Mrs. Kioa.
" They were very interested in the farming skills training implemented by Nishi Industries which TBEC had contributed to. They also suggested ways in which Australia could work with Nishi to develop Tongan Agriculture on a more sustainable basis."
Mrs. Kioa added that Nishi Industries thanked the Australian Government for the support given to Tongan Agriculture and mentioned a major area of further support needed was in farmer training particularly "Train the Trainers" programs.
