TCCI's CEO Mrs. Dorina Kioa met with members of the Australian Parliamentary Delegation when they visited Tonga this week. The Delegation included Senator the Hon. Ian Macdonald, Senator John Williams and Mr. Steve Georganas MP who were looking at Tonga - Australia collaborative activities in the Government and private sectors including agriculture and export industries.
Mrs. Kioa was very impressed with the interest shown by the Delegation at the presentation by Nishi Industries. " The Delegation members included members of parliament from Australia's farming community" said Mrs. Kioa. " They were very interested in the farming skills training implemented by Nishi Industries which TBEC had contributed to. They also suggested ways in which Australia could work with Nishi to develop Tongan Agriculture on a more sustainable basis." Mrs. Kioa added that Nishi Industries thanked the Australian Government for the support given to Tongan Agriculture and mentioned a major area of further support needed was in farmer training particularly "Train the Trainers" programs.

The Tonga Chamber of Commerce has strengthened its ties with its Australian counterparts by establishing the Tonga - Australia Chamber of Commerce (TACC).
The TACC was established following a successful visit to Australia by the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) and Tongan business operators in March this year. The delegation met with Chambers of Commerce in New South Wales and Queensland. The visit has supported closer working relationships between businesses in ...Australia and Tonga and will support Tonga's effective participation in the PACER Plus agreement recently signed here in Tonga. The Tonga High Commission in Canberra and Tonga Consulate office in Sydney collaborated to establish the TACC. Monitoring & Evaluation course was delivered to the staff and management of the Ministry of Infrastructure on the 08th - 09th June. 10 staff participated in this very effective 2 days training with Trainer, Miss Lilieta Takau.
Customer Service training was delivered here at TBEC. 11 participants turned up for this great course, with TBEC trainer Mrs. Suliana Pahulu. Each participants was awarded with a certificate of accomplishment from Officer in Charge, Ms. Lakai Fonua.
Basic Budgeting & Record Keeping course was delivered today 20th April here at TBEC office with 11 participants registering. Each participants received a certificate of accomplishment from Ms. Lakai Fonua (OIC) together with trainer Ms. Ilaisaane Tupou
Project Management Course was delivered for the Management & Staff of the Ministry of Infrastructure. This course was delivered twice to 2 groups from Infrastructure, followed by a certificate ceremony on the 20th February. Attending the ceremony was the Acting CEO for the Ministry Mrs. Kelela Tonga, Acting CEO for Tonga Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mrs. Dorina Kioa, Trainer, Ms. Lolinda Maue together with 23 participants who participated in this very effective course.
